I Didn't Know They Canned That Stuff

I'm hiring a professional to do ALL those things.  I do some things well.... shoot what I aim at for example.  

Hi Bob... I'm not a do-it-yourself type and as I've often said my husband is a "domestic idiot." I had to teach him how to load a dishwasher, which appliance was the oven, how to change a light bulb. All that being said, I think too much of our society is all about instant gratification.  Many of us started in life at the bottom rung of a ladder in our professions and worked our way up, modest housing, etc. You earn it through life.

Love the cartoon strip today and love your tie into first time buyers needing to consider a little elbow grease with their first home. It's an exciting time when you buy your first home and most are eager to dig in! 

Hi Bob- I'm still rolling on the floor laughing at Nina Hollander, Broker's comment. When we m loved into our first home which was new construction, we put in all of the flower beds, front and back. I can remember both of us taking multi-wheelbarrow loads of dirt that had been dumped on the driveway to where we would eventually have our flower beds. 

Bob, I was blessed with other talents and skills. We would skip a few wonderful meals and a few wonderful bottles of wine when it came to fixing things.... because we would need to hire a Pro:)Endre

If only elbow grease was that easy to come by and we could just rub some on when we needed it, haha.

If there isn't money to hire a pro, the next best thing is to do it yourself! I've painted, spackled, and done a bunch of other things myself. As I'm getting a little older, I'm more likely to hire someone now. Maybe. But first time homeowners? Go for it!
