This is a special shout-out and thank you to Michael Jacobs, a long-time AR member who inspires us to ponder so many things...in every post he shares!
Michael has, for years, shared thoughtful articles that take us on intellectual and emotional journeys we don’t expect, and perhaps don’t realize we are taking until we finish reading and realize how our thinking has been transformed or inspired.
There are always surprises in Michael’s thoughtful writing that invite us to open our minds to other perspectives and view points on life and business. Sometimes predictable, but so often not. That’s part of the enjoyment of Michael’s writing.
But this post is not about Michael’s musings but a special thank you for his recent help.
Michael and I have not met…perhaps surprising given we live just 2 hours apart and have followed each other on AR for years. But I knew I could reach out to him for help, and he went way beyond what I expected and hoped for.
Our nephew is an associate professor of math at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio. He flew in yesterday to LAX to give a talk at Cal Tech in Pasadena. He let us know in advance of his trip and wanted to get together if we could make the journey to Pasadena to visit – it’s only 2 hours from Carlsbad so of course said yes. We haven't seen him in about 6 years.
We wanted to treat him to a special dinner in Pasadena last night, so I reached out to Michael last week for recommendations, as he IS the expert on everything Pasadena.
Michael sent me an email with multiple recommendations based on what I suggested we hoped to find, with details about 6 restaurants he recommended, as well as the phone numbers and websites. I couldn’t have asked for more.
We decided to dine at Gale’s Restaurant, a well-known Italian eatery south of Old Pasadena not far from where we were staying. It certainly exceeded our expectations for food, service and value. We had a wonderful evening with our nephew, and a most pleasant dining experience.
Thank YOU, Michael, for your kind and thoughtful help!
