New Scam out there, 

No it's not the boss is out of town and I need you to go and get me gift cards

or talk to me on What's up so I can try to sell you bit coin

or your anti-virus expired or your car warranty expired.

I could go on and on.

It is when someone pretends to be you, and lists 

😳 YOUR REAL ESTATE!

Not sure what the end game is..... to get the deposit? Whatever it is. It's going around like the flu.

Go to

Put your address in.  If something pops up on the internet about your alert item you will get a notification.  Everyone please do this and let's shut this scam down!

Was the real estate agent asleep at the wheel? I can't believe any Realtor being duped by this scam. There are so many red flags about the sellers demanding processes that are so unreasonable and uncommon, I can't believe how this scam can ever be achieved.

I don't know what they could hope to gain, unless they have fake ID that shows them as the actual owner. Sellers don't get to hold the deposits - they don't get anything unless the sale closes or the buyer defaults. So - ?? What's the point?

Marte Cliff The ones I have heard of insist on using their preferred closing company (which may not be a company) and they accept forged documents and collect all the proceeds.  Mostly happening on bare land since it doesn't draw as many red flags.

That has occurred here in Idaho as well. With so many new agents not knowing what to look for and what looks "different" it will perpetuate.  Stay vigilant out there.

So - any time a seller (or a buyer?) insists on using a specific title company you should beware - and check it out yourself.

I mentioned buyers, because they can pull scams too. We had a pair come through town here about 20 years ago who were putting offers on every cheap fixer/tear down we had. The offers were always accepted because they were very attractive.

They only closed on one of them, and that time their check bounced! We think the scam was that they were duping investors into providing the money... but we never did find out for sure.
