When an executive is relocated to another State, typically with larger companies a Relocation Company gets involved. There are perks given to this executive that are sometimes very lucrative. The Relocation Companies have real estate companies they have agreements with and usually instruct the relocation executive that someone will call them.
I had a relocation family coming into Colorado a few years ago where there was no relocation company. This family actually came from an agent here in the Rain.
Years later this executive called me, and he was changing companies, and moving back to Pennsylvania. He explained this time there was a Relocation Company involved, and he said --- it was up to me whether or not I wanted to pay the exorbitant costs they would charge me. Of course, he was fabulous to work with in the first transaction, and wanted to help again. He said the same thing, and didn't want any other agent to be involved.
The Relocation Company didn't like this executive's answer, and still said he should interview their agents first. He told the company that it would be wasting any agent's time to have them come out. After a week, the Relocation Company finally agreed to allow me to assist this family. Not sure why this was so difficult, I agreed to pay their fees.
It is amazing how many relocations I speak with, and not many will stand up to the Relocation Company for me, so I felt very special. This family was very special to me too, although I didn't get to do but these two transactions with them. The executive did tell me he would absolutely take another transfer to Denver, as he likes it here much better than PA!
