Originally known as Decoration Day, it was a day that organized women’s groups 
left flowers on the graves of our soldiers who valiantly served Our Country.
In 1971 this day was changed to Memorial Day and a day we honor and remember our fallen American soldiers.
Take a few minutes to reach out to our servicemen and women to thank them for their sacrifices that are real and permanent. God Bless America!
This also is the unofficial start of the summer!
Good morning, Joan... as I was out of college by the time Decoration Day was renamed to Memorial Day, I still think of it as Decoration Day more often than not. My mom called it Decoration Day till the day she died. Whatever we call it, it's a day to remember and honor those who were willing to die for our freedoms.

I am with you Joan Cox in remembering the brave Americans who sacrificed their lives so that we may live free. So many men and women have died for gallant causes. The American republic, as it was founded, was constructed by good Godly men who recognized the need to follow the principals of God’s word. Today’s constitution is a poor reflection of their principals BUT it still is the greatest form of government on Earth today. My focus today is on the American soldiers who have given their lives because they believed in those Godly principals of our founders intent of the constitution they crafted BUT ALSO the many men and women of the Bible that died defending God’s principals. They need to be remembered as well in light of the fact that our constitution was based on God’s constitution.

Joan Cox that's odd, because you grew up while it was called Decoration Day. Maybe you didn't focus on it as it was not a three day weekend then.
