Many people do not know about Arizona Falls at the GR Herberger Park is the only waterfall in Phoenix caused by a natural 20 foot drop in the Arizona Canal. Locals have been coming here since the 1800s often on horseback for swimming and picnics. Here is an old picture of Arizona Falls in the time before electricity. Yet, surprising that many current day locals do not even know it exits!
This city park maintained by SRP was the first hydro power plant in Phoenix powering 150 homes and is still in operation today. Take a visit (it is lit up nicely in the evenings) and feel the coolness created by the water for yourelf.
