One Step at a Time

Real Estate Broker/Owner with Beam & Branch Realty TREC #547752

I know many of you may be weary of reading my moving experience posts. But, can I just say - whew! For the past two weeks, I have been non-stop in moving mode. And when I mean moving, I literally mean - physically moving!

I wear an Oura ring that tracks my steps, sleep, respiration, and more. On the first day of moving, I tracked 25,553 steps which are equivalent to 20.8 miles! No wonder my feet were on fire! Each day since then, I am averaging 11-18 miles per day! This move is getting me in shape!

The lessons, however, are numerous. Life is an accumulation of millions of steps. With each step we take, we complete tasks, we meet goals, and, we continue to move forward. And, moving forward in life is key.

Living life one step at a time is essential. Here are three, "One step at a time" tips:

👞 Meeting goals one step at a time helps you to stay on task and remain realistic when you are faced with large, daunting tasks.

👞 Being able to prioritize what you need to get done and when will help you get things completed step-by-step.

👞 Learning to not stress out when tackling a large job is also crucial. Accept that it is ok to do what you can do and complete it one step at a time.

Give yourself a break and try not to heap too much into your life. Overdoing it will always catch up with you. One step at a time attitude will get you where you are going and will help you keep things in perspective!

Like the one step at a time. I do a lot of walking and steps each week. Curious about how you are enjoying the Oura Ring. I was looking into purchasing one yet did not like the idea of a monthly membership on top of the price.

25,553 steps is a bunch of steps.  I remember doing about 15,000 one day, and thought that was really my limit.

Good morning Paula,

Whew!! You are taking lots of steps. My goal is always 10,000 steps a day but you are far exceeding mine with your moving! Love your one step at a time approach. There is no questions with this approach you will get where you are going and will help you keep things in perspective!

We have purchased a few homes and fixed them up.  I was always exited when I was purchasing them, but then I would walk in and realize how daunting of a task I had in front of me.  I just put my head down and started doing one step at a time.  It was usually done sooner than I had anticipated.

Over 25,000 steps is a lot of work and my guess is that you hit that mark (or close to it) more than a few times.  I hope the move is going well and that you are at the end of your journey with many happy days to follow the move.

Paula, that is A LOT of steps, and no wonder your feet are on fire.   I usually feel like that after 14,000 steps!   Hope you are almost finished.

Dr. Paula McDonald that is a lot of moving and a lot of steps.  No doubt you have moved into shape.  Not that you were ever out of shape - yet I feel that way when I do "spring cleaning" moving furniture, etc.

Hi Paula,
In this fast-paced high-demand world we live in today, it's sometimes hard to take a breath and slow down. Prioritizing is key because we just can't do it all. Asking for help is huge too!

Hi Paula- I track my steps every day and shoot for 10,000 but don't always make it. When we were moving from our 3 level home in Northern VA, those stairs almost killed by knees!!  Take the first step and you're on your way.
