Shower Power: Flaunt You Fabulous Blooms Brought to Life by April Showers - Active Rain Contest hosted by Debe Maxwell - This is My Entry
One of things I absolutely love about being a part of the Active Rain Platform is some of the challenges and seeing different people's post from all over. This months challenge with the April Showers bring May flowers is one of my favorites. I love seeing all of the different post showing the beauty all around us.
I have so many flowers that I absolutely love. Here is one we just got this year in our new location in Willis, TX. It is called a Blue Allium Caeruleum. It has beautiful blooms like are like a burst! We purchased these from Houston Garden Centers and they were actually very affordable. This plant does reproduce and you can propagate it to make more. These flowers also come in white.
Another one of my favorites is hibiscus. We have several in our yard, and they grew very well in Corpus Christi, TX so we decided to try them last year in our New Location in Wilis, TX. These plants have been pretty harty over the last few years and although they froze, looked like they were dead and died, they are coming back to life! We went ahead and purchased a few more this year because I love the big blooms so much and I am so used to having these flowers as a part of my garden. They usually bloom all year long, if the temperatures do not get too cold and they have plenty of sunshine. This is one of my hibiscus in a single bloom. They also have some versions that make double blooms. They come in all different colors and can grow over 5 feet tall. Other colors include yellow, pink, white, peach, etc. They are a beautiful addition to any garden.
I am used to seeing plumeria flowers in Corpus Christi. We have a few here, but they have not flowered yet. This is one from our home in Corpus Christi. I love the beautiful vibrant blooms and they smell so good! My husband planted some for us this year and they are looking very healthy. I think we will have lots of blooms later in the year. The blooms will be yellow and white, pink and white, and red. I can't wait to see them!
We just added this Yellow Rose - we always sing the song "The Yellow Rose of Texas" as we look at the beautiful blooms. We just got this one this year, and it has not stopped blooming!
Another addition we just got this year is our White Rose. It has so many beautiful blooms. We are not sure where to plant it yet, but will find a home for it somewhere. I love roses and have always wanted a rose garden. We have been working diligently on it for the past few months and it is coming along.
This concludes my entry for the May Challenge of April Showers Bring May Flowers. I hope you enjoyed looking through a few of my favorites this year. We have had so much rain in our area this year, I know everything is going to be beautiful for a while!
