Hi Patricia,
Those are all great safety reminders. So sad that so many children drown. That would be a hard one to live with as a parent.

And the Did You Know things were very interesting too.

Carol Williams - I have been in classes since March and learned a lot!

Children need all of us to look out for their well-being. I know that if I had small grandchildren and they were in danger, I would hope someone like you would step in to help provide guidance.

Carol Williams - I forgot to mention, several years ago when I was at a different Brokerage firm, a colleague of mine had a very difficult time because clients of hers recently closed on a house with a pool. They were still moving in when their youngest ventured out to the backyard swimming pool and drowned. As long as I knew that real estate agent, she never forgave herself for not putting together a list of what the owners needed to know about the pool.

Patricia that is a good list.  Pools can be a lot of fun, but they can also be dangerous if the proper precautions are not taken.

Endre Barath, Jr. - So sorry to hear things are gloomy in LA. Here in Flower Mound kids are out of school, the sun shines, and people are in their pools.

I wish the same for you and others.

What a fantastic post, Patricia, on water and pool safety. And an important one. Of course, after reading all of this I might not go near water again! (Just kidding.)

Water safety is indeed an important thing to know! We don't have very many pools here, but there are a lot of lakes and rivers which do carry many of their own challenges.

Nina Hollander, Broker - Swimming Pools and lakes can be a lot of fun when there isn't any foolish horsing around. To reduce the risk of drowning or other accidents, it is better to review the safety rules and use good common sense. Like you do!

I hope you have a wonderful June!

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP oh I get it, Patricia. We hear news all summer long about accidents around water that could have been prevented (often with some common sense). Happy June to you, as well.

Kat Palmiotti - Where I lived before moving to Texas I started taking my children for swimming lessons before they were five because we lived 50 feet away from the Channel that connected multiple lakes. There wasn't anyone I knew of who had a swimming pool. Both  of my children continued to learn and earn badges, eventually learning to teach and be life guards. I think early learning about safety around any type of water is very important.

Enjoy the month of June!

I hope that everyone will stay safe this summer when they are swimming in a pool or lake.  It makes me sad to hear about someone drowning, especially small children.

Brian England - As a mom, I never thought about being sad living around lakes when I had young children. I felt determined to teach my children how to swim by trained Swimming Instructors and they learned to respect the waters and the people around them who swam.

Parents would be wise not to instill fear but to motivate children to learn.
