You know that you should live in SoCo if:

You love Maryland and Anne Arundel county but "it's getting so crowded!"

You'd rather be held up by a farm tractor than a traffic light.

You think "you live in the boonies" is a compliment.

You also think "how can a town 15 miles away from the state capital be 'in the boonies'?"

You love a good tree frog symphony every evening.

You'd rather be watching horses, sheep, cows and llamas than housing developements during your daily commute.

You want a home with a little breathing room.

You like knowing that when you leave work and head south - most everyone else is heading north!

You don't mind bugs, deer, turtles, snakes, frogs, lizards, eagles, swans, and ducks - as long as they are not in the house.

You like getting trash pickup 2 times a week!

You can't decide whether you'd rather have a Bay view or a river view.

You can sit on your front porch for hours and the only other 2 legged animal you'll see is a bird.

You can get to either Whole Foods, Home Depot or WalMart within 15 minutes -and they are not even in SoCO!

You like to sit around a little table under a thatched umbrella with your toes in beach sand and your fingers around a cold beverage-of-your-choice listening to live music while watching boats coming in and out of the marina.

Lewis - I love, love, love SoCo! My husband works in VA and I work in Annapolis. There's no greater feeling at the end of the day then to turn off Rt. 2 onto Mill Swamp Road then onto Muddy Creek Road. Even 'street names are cool!! And descriptive, yes? I feel like I'm 100 miles away from the hustle and bustle of the city instead of only 15.

I added my description of Calypso's. I love to sit on the 'beach' with some friends singing Jimmy Buffet songs!

Karen - It is amazing to me the amount of real estate and mortgage talent that live down our way. I agree with you about that feeling. My office is in Annapolis on Riva Road and if i head home the back way, I hit all of three stop lights!!

Calypso - hmmm, let me take you back afew years to the days of Bobby D's. Do you remember that place? Now that was a true SoCo gem. And you can't leave out Swap Cirlce Saloon or whatever it is called now. Just remember to smack yourself in the back of the neck a few times before walking in to be certain it turns the proper color.... hee - haw !!!

Make fun of the area all you want - what a great place to live!!!!!   And really, our area has not taken as big a hit in value as many others.....  talk to you soon neighbor.....    maybe we should start a new group -    SoCo....    nobody would understand that but us  :-)
