June 11 is National Corn on the Cob Day, which is a great excuse to grill up some mouth-watering corn on the cob.
Smothered with butter and a light dusting of fresh ground pepper and kosher salt, eating corn on the cob is like enjoying a party in one's mouth.
It's easy to barbecue corn on the grill-simply pull down the leaves and cut off the corn silk, then push the leaves back on to cook it on the grill. It seems to take about 15-20 minutes on the grill at our house.
Preparation can be done the same way, then placed in the microwave wrapped in a damp paper towel. It takes 5-7 minutes per cob in our microwave.
Using oven mitts, squeeze the base of the cob to push the cooked corn free of the leaves, then butter, season and enjoy.
Be sure to check your own grill and microwave to adjust cooking time as needed.
What goes better with a classic Americana summer barbecue of hot dogs, chicken or tri-tip steak than delicious fresh-grilled corn on the cob?
