5 Simple Ways to Save Money NOW

Home Stager with Healthyhappyimpactful.com

We’ve all been there, where we are looking at our bank statement and wonder who has been making all these purchases! It doesn’t take long to realize, these are not fraudulent charges but in fact our own doing. To quote the one and only Taylor Swift, “Hi, it’s me. I”m the problem, it’s me.”

Luckily for us, we can stop being our own problem and start saving money instead of spending it. These may seem like too simple of ideas to save money but they can have a quick and beneficial impact on your budget. Are you ready to try?

1. Meal Prep

This is not a health tip, this is a money tip. If you don’t want to overspend and buy unnecessary items at the grocery store, you need to have a meal plan. Start with a week and plan out your meals so you know exactly what you already have and need to make the menu work. The trick is to actually stick to your grocery list. If you have a hard time with that I suggest doing an online order to pick up or deliver. Tip: Keep meals simple and schedule each meal for optimal savings.

2. Carpool

If you don’t hate your coworkers and it is logistically compatible, try organizing a carpool. This will immediately save you money on gas. Not to mention, you put less miles, wear and tear on your car and give you some extra time to finish your makeup on the way to work.

Chauffeuring your kids around to school and activities can really add up at the gas tank so try coordinating with another mom or two to take turns with the kids and getting them to and from places. Bonus: you’ll get more breaks in the schedule for yourself!

3. Cancel Subscriptions

If you’re like the majority, then you probably have way too many streaming services, delivery apps, shopping memberships, etc. that are (unnecessarily) adding up each month. Evaluate what you have, which subscriptions you use and which ones you need. Then, save money now by canceling what no longer benefits you.

4. Lower Cell Phone Bill

Cell phones are essential in this day and age and never would I expect for you to get rid of them, but you can start minimizing them. For example, do you need the extras, like high data plans, phone insurance and useless warranties? Don’t get me started if you’re paying money to upgrade to the latest and greatest version each time.

5. Stop Spending!

Did you know the fastest way to start saving money is to literally stop spending it? This tip is by far easier said than done, but if you want to make a financial impact on your budget then you need to stop spending money on unnecessary items. Block Amazon if you have to or ban yourself from Target for a while to make it happen. Need more of a push? Try doing a No Spend Challenge for a week (or month).

These five simple ways to save money now are indeed simple ideas but not necessarily easy. If you want to make a difference in your finances you’ll need to make changes. Use these five ideas to get you started.

The most effective way is the lasts suggestion, to stop spending.  I recall a few years back a buyer was bemoaning not having enough money for a good down payment. Yet every time we met, she had a large Starbucks; cup in her hand.  I suggested she invest in a good thermal cup and buy a Mr. Coffee and brew her own. She did and later told me she saved $70-$80 per week.

My first thought while reading this post was "Just Stop Spending!"  Ha Ha, easy for me to say.  But really?  We all have choices every day to buy or not buy and I have gotten pretty good at asking "do I REALLY need this?"  If not, I move on!  Great Post Jennifer Kropf
