Hurricane Season 2024

June 1st is the start of hurricane season.

We all need to be ready more than ever for any storms that enter the Gulf of Mexico. Now is the time to plan and ensure you have your supplies and techniques.

Here are 12 items you may need to be prepared for the season:

•1.    Your medications

•2.    Copies of your Home Owners Insurance Policy

•3.    Copies of your Flood Insurance Policy

•4.    Copies of your Health Insurance Policy

•5.    Copies of the Evacuation Route you're planning on taking

•6.    Back up communication plan. Remember, Cell Phones have not worked in the past during hurricanes.

•7.    Have additional email accounts. Use Yahoo or Gmail to stay in touch.

•8.    Back up your computer data NOW!

•9.    Service your automobile. Change the oil and tires if required.

•10.   Tell your family members the area you're planning to go to.

•11.    Pack your family photos in plastic containers if you remove them when you evacuate.

12.     Refrigerators- During most Hurricanes, homes will lose electricity. Many refrigerators will be lost. The clean-up is tough. One way to cut down on refrigerator clean-up is to place the contents in plastic garbage bags in the refrigerator before you leave. Also, consider freezing a cup of water in the freezer. Place a coin on top of the frozen water(ICE). If the coin is somewhere other than the top when you return, you know the food in the freeze-thaw.

Previous Hurricanes have taught many lessons about not being prepared. Learn from their mistakes. When looking for Homes for Sale in Metairie | Kenner or a Beachfront Condo in Gulf Shores, Ala., check the property disclosure for any effects from past hurricanes.

Are you thinking of selling or buying a home in Metairie | Kenner? Interest rates are at  in several years. Interest rates and insurance premiums appear favorable for purchasing a new home. Want to buy or sell your property in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and the list goes on?
Drop me a note for more information on Hurricane Preparedness, Purchasing or Selling a Metairie | Kenner home for Sale. I would happily answer any questions and help you with this significant decision.

I will make your buying or selling experience stress-free.

Good suggestions, I like the one about the coin in the ice, and putting everything in trash bags.
