I too remember your post about your Facebook experience and even reread your post. I don't use VPN but have heard of so many that do. I'm going to check back to see if you have any answers to your dilemma. 

While I have heard the term VPN many times over the years, I could not even tell you what it means unless I go to the internet and search it.

So...No...I do not have a VPN.

I don't know of anyone and I too don't have a VPN.

Hi Dee Toohey - My husband is my tech guy.  He created my website and keeps us protected from malware.  A VPN - is a virtual private network. It masks your IP address.  I use it on my computer and phone all the time, especially when I am out of the house.  Unfortunately, you can get hacked even if someone is parked in front of your house.  We use NORDVPN.  Some of our malware and antivirus come with a VPN, but I have been using this for a long time and find it fast.  Some VPNs are slow in connecting and with the speed of the internet.  I don't see a difference with NORDVPN.  There are 5700 server sites.  I connect to Phoenix.  I started using it when there was only one server site in the USA!  Here is the link Nordvpn.

I use Proton VPN.   There is a free version, or pay for an upgrade.  I recommend it.

As to your second question, I got completely off Facebook several years ago, for a host of reasons.  I also abandoned Twitter (my account had 54,000 followers).   I lost a lot of contacts ("reunion groups" on Facebook, political allies on Twitter).  I deeply regret that.  Today I am on some social media sites (Reddit, Gab, Rumble, etc.), but I won't ever depend on social media to keep my contact lists or important info.  

  Suggest, create some email accounts (use MailFence or Proton, NOT Gmail or Yahoo or Outlook).  Cut and paste the HTML for your blogs, save as either Notepad or PDF, email it to your own accounts.  Store it in files/folders there.

I use Norton for my VPN, and security. I do notice using the VPN some sites do not play well with a VPN, like my company connection at work in the office, I need to turn off the VPN to print things etc.

I don’t have a VPN so can’t help you there, Dee.
