Hickory Run State Park brings in visitors from states away to see all the beauty it has to offer. Located in the western foothills of the Pocono Mountains in White Haven, Hickory Run spans a whopping 15,990 acres. This includes camping sites and over forty miles of hiking trails, as well as miles of trout streams for both the avid and novice fishermen. Hickory Run is also home to Boulder Field, a National Natural Landmark – a 400 by 1,800 foot field of walkable flat boulders (some as long as 26 feet!). Boulder Field has remained unchanged for 20,000 years and is well worth a stop while vacationing in the area.
There are endless ways to keep busy when visiting Hickory Run: walk across the boulders at Boulder Field; take a swim in Sand Spring Lake; view the scenic Lehigh Gorge when hiking the Fireline Trail; bask in some silent seclusion at Stametz Dam along Shades of Death Trail. One major attraction of Hickory Run State Park is Hawk Falls. Here are a few shots; be sure to get there early to get the trail to yourself!
