Some excellent posts are in this month's contest, and we are looking for many more entries in the next few weeks. Please look at July's Contest that John Meussner and I are hosting.
By the way, the members who sponsor a contest also write an entry, and I was thinking about what that post would be.
When checking the comments on our contest, I saw that Kathleen Daniels, Probate & Trust Estate Specialist, wrote the first entry on the very first day. That was Saturday, July 1st, and I called ( I often do this) to congratulate her. Since neither of us is ever at a loss for words, and I was not sure of my show's topic- I extended the invitation to be a guest on my live radio show the next day, Sunday.
Katherine called in at noon, and the hour flew by. We had so much fun with lots of dialogue on what makes a real estate professional exceptional.
A couple of callers shared praise for the Realtors® they had worked with. One of those agents he has not heard from in ten years. Another caller gave a wonderful shout-out to the REALTOR® who helped find the right home for his family and, of course, will use this same agent when it is time to sell and move to Florida.

Another member, Eileen Burns, had also written a contest entry later that first day and then surprised me with a call to the show.
Of the 3 million agents, including over a million REALTORS®, 7% of us do 93% of the transactions. Not sure of the accuracy, but it's what I quote. That leaves a lot of agents doing 1-2 deals a year. Yep, and some are doing none. That's why our business has a tremendous turnover in the first year or two.
And we are looking to see how top agents are exceptional and stand out among the competition. Here are some suggestions:
-Always understand that the sale and purchase of property belongs to the principal, the actual buyer, and the seller. Their needs come BEFORE the needs of the agent!
-We, professionals, must know and understand what the buyer's and seller's needs are. That takes a lot of listening. It could be the price alone. Or it could be time to find the next property or wait for an opening in their choice of an adult living community. You don't know if you don't listen.
-I answer my phone, and here is the reason.
In the past 17 years (yep, I've been here since July of 2006), I have written nearly 5,000 blog posts. For the last few months, I've only posted a few times a week instead of daily. I still log in, look at the Q&A, read the featured posts, and speak with an AR member daily.
For the past ten years, I've done a weekly live radio show where I have to engage for an hour's worth of talking. Many of you have called in, and I have loved it.
When I'm in the studio alone, my topics run the gamut. Subjects are about my unusual listings, what homes I need for my unique buyers, a story about a transaction, and changing the names and locations to protect the guilty. It would be impossible to know how many subjects I've covered. My main goal is to educate the public and the real estate industry by sharing my experience over three decades. I also want to find buyers and sellers... that's a given.
