I think most people have a go to pizza joint. It is the place reasonably close to their home, that has the type of pizza they enjoy. Each area of coast seems to have a good to really good place that pizza lovers can go to for a decent to great slice.
Here on the Space Coast of Florida we have quite a few good pizza places (we had an influx of NYers in the mid 1980s and that upgraded our pizza quality).
Beachside south of Patrick SFB has been dominated for the last couple of decades by the Original Bizzarro Pizza on the boardwalk in Indialantic. It has been the best on the beach (and in my opinion second best pizza place in the county behind only Genna in Melbourne).
Two things have changed my opinion. One, Bizzarro has gone from 24 inch slices down to 18 inch, and Napoli Pizza & Pasta has opened in the Walmart Plaza in Indian Harbour Beach (across the street from the ocean on the corner of Eau Gallie Blvd and A1A). This is not to say Bizzarro is no longer good pizza...to the contrary, it is very good. Napoli just has a very tasty slice of pizza, and the deal is better.
They both use top quality products, cheese, dough, sauce, etc...
They both use similar NY Style large pizza ovens
They both know how to properly spin a crust and cook it just enough so it is no doughy and limp.
The difference at Napoli Pizza and Pasta is a better menu and better prices. This time in my boy and I had the two slice lunch special which included two large cheese slices AND a drink for $7.99. The slices (like Bizzarro are 18" slices) and toppings can be added at additional cost. As a comparison Bizzarro charges $3.75 per slice, and no drink (an overall savings of $2.00 per lunch).
While nothing on the coast I have found compares to Genna, Napoli Pizza & Pasta is now my go to pizza on the beach!
