Make it easy for fellow Realtors!

By
Real Estate Agent with NBI Realty LLC

There is nothing more annoying then reaching the active listing with buyers and finding there is combo lock, you trying calling numbers of the listing company, listing agent, owners and any other number listed, but to your horrow, no human response. You wait for a while after leaving voicemail and you wait a bit more but no call back. Buyer looks at you like what the hell is going on, you smile back and hope and pray that listing agent will call you back.................? Any body out there experienced this or relate to this?

Wouldn't making it easy for fellow professionals who happen to be in neigborhood with a ready buyer, be a commonsense, you would think, right. It has happen on so many occassions that when putting a combo number in the listing or any other pertinent details would make life so much easier. I know modern technology of voicemails, cell phones etc is there to make life easier and help in ease of doing business but nothing replacing putting proper information in the right place first time around. Make it easy for fellow professionals please!

That' is exactly why I do't like combo-locks.  I also have trouble putting them back together. LOL.

Ranjan~  I can understand your frustration.  It makes all of us look like a fool!

Been there more often than I'd like to admit!  With my listings, I strive to make showings easy but that's not the way most agents seem to think (or so it seems).  Sadly, what's worse is that the buying public then thinks their agent is the incompetent!

Ranjan, I had a showing a few weeks ago that I arrived at a few minutes before my clients. I met them at their car when they pulled up and we talked as we went to the door. The house was vacant and I unlocked the lockbox and found inside a broken off key top! (Look at buyers and smile) I called the listing agent and he said that he knew about it and had been trying to get a hold of the owner to get a new key. I asked him why if he knew about it that he did not call me ahead of time and let me know that? Now I was here with my clients and they were ready willing and able buyers who could not see the place. (What the hell is going on?) I asked him to call me back when the key was replaced so my clients could see the place - he never did. This is all a HUGE disservice to his seller client who has entrusted him to sell the property. Just RUDE!  I can totally relate! Seriously, it is more than making sales, as Realtors, we have a duty and responsibility to act as PROFESSIONALS to our clients and each other.

Ranjan, this is one of my pet peeves!  I hate it when they say that there is a lockbox on a listing and you arrive to find a combo lock instead of the Supra Lockboxes that our board uses, and the other agent hasn't given you the combination when you called to set up the appointment.  It does make us look a lot less than professional.  Good post!

Hi Ranjan - Welcome to Active Rain!  I look forward to reading more of your posts.  I love our Supra lock boxes.  They are computerized, need no combinations - just our own lockbox key - and it records who opens it.  So easy.  And it is against our MLS rules to use any other lockbox for Realtor access.
