As a bit of a News Hound I am well aware that most of the country has been dealing with extreme heat for close to two months but believe it or not North Dakota has been in the 70's for the most part UNTIL NOW.

We are now in the 90's for highs, just in time for the North Dakota State Fair. I love extreme heat during the days of the fair. If you think that is strange it seems so does everyone else.

Besides all the fun of the midway and food there is the opportunity for people to show off their talents through displays that include everyday individuals, and local organizations. One such area of displays include Artist and Photographers. My daughter Tina thought she would give it a try and put in an entry for the 1st time.

Congrats to Tina for winning Best of Division

& Best of the Show.

What a deal for her 1st attempt and out of hundreds of entries. The piece is all about North Dakota. It shows the State Bird (Meadow Lark), State flower, State Tree, even the State insect (lady bug).

I had a great time at the fair and look forward to several more visits as I purchased a season pass. Hope to see you there.

The only thing that would have made the day better would be holding your hand as we walked through the fair grounds Nina Hollander, Broker . There is nothing like walking through a huge crowd knowing you are with the most beautiful woman there.

Congratulations to Tina! Some of my fondest childhood memories were of displaying my 4-H exhibits at the County and State Fairs when I lived in Oregon. It was also when I was first introduced to Scones. They've been a favorite ever since.

If memory serves me correctly Carol Williams 4H accounts for 40,000 entries into our fair display and of course that does not include the livestock entries which we also enjoy. We do look at all the 40,000 entries and enjoy the time doing so (especially in the air conditioned building).

I will try to remember to take a picture of the auditorium the displays are in on my next trip Carol Williams . There is a great 2nd story window into the auditorium that would give you a good idea of how crazy 40,000 entries look like.

Sadly, it appears 4-H participation is dwindling except maybe in livestock.

I do not think it is strange to like hot temps for the fair - especially given how much cold and snow you have endured.  I would want to warm up too.

My daughter was also in 4-H and we both enjoyed the county fair each year in August. Congratulations on Tina's endeavor. Our county fair did not have that many entries.

You are right on about the joy of thawing out Kathleen Daniels, Probate & Trust Estate Specialist and thank you for the kind words for both Tina and I.  I also think it funny that there is a State insect but as long as there is what could be a better choice then the Ladybug?

This is the State Fair Leanne Smith which accounts for so many entries. I have been to county fairs as well and they would be luck to have 40 entries.

That is one good reason Brian England . This spring had me questioning our adopting a rescue dog as she was really horrible for nearly a month.

That is us as well Joan Cox . We already had a couple of days in the 90's and are predicted to stay there another 3 or 4 days. It will probably snow immediately after. 😉
