A Big Thank You to Those in ActiveRain's Q&A
A couple of weeks ago, I posted a question in Q&A about putting together a list as a gift for a seller transitioning to another state. The senior seller, venturing into unexplored territory as he had never been responsible for a move in his entire life, needed some guidance on moving. His wife had always masterfully choreographed every move… From packing their life into boxes, hiring the movers, overseeing the delivery and set-up in their new home. He never, in their many decades of marriage, ever lifted a finger so, this was foreign to him!
I wanted to share the list that I wound up putting together for him and delivered it last week. His response was a mix of surprise and pure joy, as he hadn't even thought about assembling items essential for his first night in his new home. To add a cherry on top, I also included a few comfort items like a favorite snack to make the first night less daunting and more homey. It warmed my heart to see his relief and gratitude - proof that small gestures can indeed, make a big difference.
Here is the list of items I curated for him and placed in a transparent, ‘portable’ package for him:
- Set of sheets
- Set bath towels
- Roll of paper towels
- Roll of toilet paper
- Paper napkins
- Paper Plates
- Disposable Utensils
- Tissues
- WetOnes
- First aid kit
- Flashlight
- Pair of scissors
- Disposable plates and bowls
- Hand Soap
- Liquid shower/bath soap
- Box of garbage bags (kitchen - 13 Gallon)
- Bottled water
- Snacks
- Washing pods & dryer sheets
- Flashlight
I gave him a second, empty, transparent bag to add the following items himself:
- His kitty’s food
- A change of clothes
- Pillow
- prescription medicines & toiletries
- Phone & iPad charger
And, of course, I reminded him not to forget the litter box!
Again, thanks everyone! ActiveRain ROCKS! Your suggestions helped tremendously.
