Wordless Wednesday…Identity and Identify

They really are setting the bar low for themselves, they should be identifying as a Tesla, haha.

Hello Kathy - words continue to be defined, redefined, interpreted and then reinterpreted.   Don't get me started on the many introductions of words and terms as I fear I am consistently falling behind.  Way behind.  

I admire author and public speaker Fran Lebowitz who I find witty as well as wise.  Although I can't immediately find her quote about the subject of pronouns, I will paraphrase it (with apologies for any inaccuracy) - why not learn the original reasons for pronouns.  

As for the photo - that's certainly a vehicle of expression, isn't it?  

Good morning. I love the Nietzsche quote. We are told who we are when we're growing up in various ways. I think we don't really know for sure who we are, what we stand for, what we'll put up with, etc until we're adults.

I read a news article the other day where they were talking about a person whose pronouns are they/them. I was so confused reading it. It just didn't make grammatical sense in my head.

I guess we live in a world that we can just say what we are, and the rest of the world is supposed to accept that. DUMB

I think society has taken you can be anything you want to be too far!

My sense is the current push is not about identity but rather isolation for those who will not follow this current path.

Well this is a loaded subject these days BUT it's still quite simple and logical to moi!There seems to be a lot of 'lost' beings out there who are desperately trying to fit in somewhere or to some ideal they've learned about recently.  It's like another fad.  I do believe this will fade out as common sense becomes normal again.  Let's pray that happens soon.

Hello Kathy and confusing happens for not only kids but us also all the time.  I know I was confuse at a early age and with parents working all the time in the restaurant, I did not want anything to do with that.  Ended up being in that field for years.

Kathy I am far removed from my high school and college years, and I still don't know what I want to be ...... LOL

Finding out who we are is an individual journey of life experience and self-discovery, not one where people are pushing and prodding for their own benefit, whether financial or to get attention. It took me many, many years to get here and am in a happy place, Kathy!

I've been studying Spanish for awhile.  In that language all nouns have gender.  It can get confusing sometimes.  Most nouns that end in an "a" are feminine; but not always.  Life is like that.  If I want to be successful learning Spanish, I'll need to adapt!🙃

Kathy Streib  loved your post and the photos, now with that said it is sad that we are rewriting our vocabulary..... reminds me of when Bill Clinton was asked a question and his response was "what is the definition of 'the' " I just shook my head and here we are many years later we are questioning many words: he, she. it to name a few, Endre

p.s.: when I learned  German there were definitions of he, she, it and was comfortably used in German.... wonder what they will have to do if it changes????Endre
