Hi Dorie- I always love these historical facts. I can remember very well where I was when I heard that Elvis had died. Though I was not a big fan, it is one of those moments that stick with you.

Dorie I thought Larry Bird was in the NBA longer than 13 years.  He had a huge impact on the game in a short time.

Hi Kathy Streib ..I remember well that day..it wasn't a surprise with the down hill spiral that Elvis was headed on.

So hard to believe it was that long ago that Elvis died. I remember exactly where I was when I heard the news.

I often tell folks my greatest regret is that I missed Woodstock.  1969 was such an interesting year.

Love this, Dorie!

I remember my Dad was stationed in Biloxi, MS (USAF) and we would drive up the state to Whitehaven/Memphis TN to Elvis' mansion. He would ride his golf cart around the grounds and sign autographs. I was gaga over him! Of course, I was young and impressionable!

Fast forward to the summer of 1977 and I remember exactly where I was when I heard the news. I was listening to a radio show and thought the host was pulling a 'prank' on the listeners because that was the nature of the show - very upbeat and funny. I literally sat down and cried when I found out it was really true! I don't think I've ever cried over the death of a celebrity - before or since then but, there were so many 'family' memories that conjured up that sadness, I suppose.

I remember hearing about Woodstock, but I was just a little too young to attend, although I thought it would be so cool!  I also remember going to Memphis, TN with a girlfriend of mine in the late 70's and we went to Elvis' mansion.  So many interesting history facts ... thank you for sharing Dorie Dillard Austin TX
