Long Island Home Buyers Have These 3 Requests

As Long Island REALTORS®, we encounter a wide array of requests from home buyers as they begin their search for a home or condo.

Here are the Top 3 of the most common inquiries we receive:

  1. Location, Location, Location

Location is certainly at the top of the list.  Whether they want Nassau or Suffolk County, North Shore or South Shore, want to live near family, want a more leisure lifestyle, want to be in a particular School District, or want to live near work, location is very important.

  1. Price Range

Although this number can change, price is an important factor when deciding where to move. Many times it can be an unrealistic price range, but once they start looking, they realize what the real number should be and we stay within those guidelines.

  1. Move-In Ready

When looking for a home, many buyers want a Move-In Ready residence. Older buyers have gone through many updates while living in their previous homes, and younger buyers don't want to do the work. Yes, there are exceptions, and taking into account the 2 previous requests mentioned, a more established neighborhood may be the right choice. However, buyers usually start with "I don't want to do any work, and I want Move-In Ready". So, that's where we may start.

Bottom Line:

When you're ready to initiate the process of buying a home or condo on Long Island, rely on the expertise of  Lawrence and Sheila Agranoff who are dedicated to working for you!

Those seem to be the top 3 criteria I have always heard from prospective buyers as well.  Often, their price range doesn't quite fit the location and quality of home that they desire, haha.

Good morning, Sheila and Larry... if there's anything I've seen a sea-change in, it's that all kinds of buyers are wanting move-in ready homes and are willing to pay a premium for them.

Good morning Larry and Sheila. I have always been willing to compromise on location for price and dealing with condition. These days move-in ready trumps all else but two also remains important. Enjoy your day.

Good morning Larry and Sheila,

I think the overwhelming need for buyers to acquire a move in ready home is they don't want the headache of taking on a project. Contractors are busy, expensive and they don't want to endure the process so will pay a premium for an updated home!

Hi Larry and Sheila- I agree with Dorie Dillard Austin TX  More buyers seem to want move-in-ready homes. Prices have gone up and finding vendors who can do the work can make it difficult.

The move in ready expectation is a very good reminder for home sellers to correct any deferred maintenace issues.

Hi Sheila,

Those three things are also good for sellers to remember as they put their house up for sale in Long Island. If you are not in the right location, make sure your house is priced competitively.
