What Fun we had with this property In Whittier California! Whittier is located East of Los Angeles but still within the confines of LA County.
About 1,580 sq. feet it was a 4 Bedroom 2 Bath home. The original family bought it from the builder and even had the original marketing material for the property. They were selling it after owning it since 1961! With a little paint and some cleaning and other tweaks, we got it ready to go on the Market.
We listed it on a Saturday morning and had our Open House on Sunday. 164 People came!!! Mostly large family groups, some were three or four generations of the same family. It was fun to see that but I have to confess it was overwhelming. We were priced about 20K below what we felt the market price was and we soon had many offers to process. We wound up closing the deal with 31 offers in and at 80K over asking. This made for a happy seller of course. A young family is now prepping the property for their new life chapters. We are so excited for them!
Whittier is not our market area. We normally would never work outside of our area but it was for a friend who has a lot of trust and confidence in us. In our market, we are working primarily in a second home/ vacation home market with mostly retirees. So it was striking for us to see so many lovely young families looking for that first home. The stories and the dreams shared with us touched our hearts. We truly met some awesome, inspiring people and made some new friends as well. It was a great experience we will remember for a very long time!
