With Labor Day and the summer 2023 season behind us, it’s time to turn our focus to the coming season. Autumn in the Pocono region is a sight to see: leaves turning vibrant reds and golds, creating picturesque images wherever you turn. Pennsylvania is known to have one of the best fall foliage seasons, with the weather allowing for the leaves to remain colorful for longer periods than in some of the New England states. There is plenty to do and see in the region to enjoy the fall foliage at its finest.
One of the most popular activities for leaf peepers in the Poconos? A foliage scenic train ride. The Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway offers daily train rides out of Jim Thorpe, but for peak fall colors, the season spans September 30th until November 5th. On this 45 minute train ride, you will pass over rivers and bridges and through tunnels, creating a magical journey to see the beauty of the Lehigh Gorge. People travel from far and wide to visit the charming town of Jim Thorpe and to take these train rides, so be sure to arrive early to buy your tickets, as tickets are not sold in advance for the autumn leaf train rides!
