There's 2 parts to any address, let's not forget that

OK - here's a pet peeve of mine in the real estate business:

All day long we get emails from other agents or title companies, advertising a listing or an open house.  Too often they put just the street address and neglect to put the name of the town. HELLO, can you please let us know which town this is?  Not everyone knows exactly where that street is, and I don't want to search through the whole email to know whether or not I'd consider going...

There are TWO parts to every address.  (Actually three if you count the state too.)

Does this happen to you?  Don't be guilty of making this mistake yourself.

Thanks for listening to my rant about inadequate addresses.

Thanks for reading my Maui blog...

When I am working a transaction, I usually prefer to have the full address as the subject line.

Aloha, Georgie - many sorts of things happen in life.   Practicing and participating in real estate over the years has "shown" the industry is no exception.   There are some things I can change, others "not so much nor as often".

As a "rule" of survival (so to speak) - I choose to accept (admittedly reject at times too), adjust and adapt as needed.  I do "this" on a regular basis.

Goo morning Georgie. Must say if you are going to the trouble of having an open house, make it easy for everyone to find it. That is the point, is it not? Enjoy your day.

Amen to that, Georgie! I see it here, too! You may have also noticed there are people here in the Rain who don't identify their locations.

Nina Hollander, Broker Some of them have websites that also don't reveal their locations. What's the sense in that?

Marte Cliff I saw a well-written post just yesterday that I commented on with no location noted for that agent.

Georgie, you are right, how many posts do we see here in the rain, and have no idea WHERE the house is.

Hi Georgie- You're not ranting at all! How is anyone looking supposed to know where it is based on the street address alone !

Aloha Georgie,

I recently had a listing that had the property listed as "Drive" instead of "Way".

It took a lot to get it changed.  I found out when I went to google it and it didn't come up.  The property has recently sold and is now listed properly.

I so do agree. But take it farther - some agents keep their own location a secret. They don't reveal it on their websites and they don't add it to their email signatures.

Maybe they think everyone will know where they work by their phone number? Even if we all had memorized every area code and prefix in the country, that still might not help.

A ridiculous oversight.

Great point, Georgie. I see it all the time with emails, online listings and in videos.

Great point! If you can't locate the property, the likelihood of selling it quickly dwindles.

Even here in the rain many agents don't identify the town and state that they work in. Annoying!

I understand your displeasure of having to search for information that could have been included in an email very easily by the sender.

Georgie Hunter R(S) 58089 - lazy!  Pure laziness! When it comes to business, there can't be any shortcuts or assumptions. I don't waste my time with those who don't care enough to let me know who they are, where they are from, and why they are contacting me.
