old picture mom and dad fashion years ago

This tiny picture is only 3" x 3" and scanning enlarged it.

I glance at it and say, "They look so much like my mom and dad!"

Enlarging shows it is not them so I analyze and decide it is the fashion that makes me think it looks like them.  Take the lady....dresses only for women way back in the 30's. (This looks like 30's or 40's to me.) My mother would only wear pants to go pick cotton or work in the fields. Dresses were usually hand made with the style you see here.

Then look at the man.  Overalls with lots of pockets and definitely old and worn. (Just as the kids like today in their jeans with a worn-out look.)  Cocked hat and an arm around his lady friend.  The house is worn in appearance but livable with a probable out door toilet and water from a dug well.  Electricity?  I'd bet there was none.

But they look happy.  That is the most important thing!!

Hello Barbara - I "see" smiles in the photo.  They appear genuine.   And talk about an ideal "Kodak moment" - even if it was years before that slogan became known.  📷

I have not heard of Kodak Moment.  When did it start?

Houses were simple in those days. Unpainted wood planks and corrugated steel metal roof. The rain on those roofs sounded pretty loud! The dress may have been home sewn and the cloth was from feed or flour sacks. Can't see the shoes but they were likly well worn.

Don, I grew up in one of those houses.  In fact, I once remember my mom scrambling around to take care of the snake that was coming up through a crack in the floor. We all had clothes made from feed sacks.  I am glad to be out of that era.

That is a priceless photo.  I have several old family pictures of my grandparents, great aunts and uncles, wearing similar clothes.

It is a good one.  I also have pictures of relatives with the old fashion.  Memories from the past, if we no longer have to live them, are so enjoyable.
