Got a great night's sleep, and ready to tackle the day! Started out raining, so had breakfast at the hotel. Had coffee in my room, but it was instant coffee! NO WAY, had to go to the restaurant and get a real cup.
There are TV shows that are in English, with Portugese subtitles, so was able to watch a movie before sleeping.
Lisbon has a population of 3 million, then you have all the tourists! OH MY, it is quite bustling, and the traffic is tough to maneuver. It took 1.5 hours to go 5 miles from the airport. You stop at every light!
Today ventured south across the bridge to Sesimbra, and WOW, I could live there part-time! SO beautiful, and everything you would expect from a European city. High above the City is Sesimbra Castle that was built somewhere around 1165. Atlantic Ocean to the West and the Tagus River to the South. All along the way you see lots of vineyards!
There as a walkway on the inside of the wall. Great place to take photos.
Here is the church.
There was a graveyard outside this church, and some of the tombstones dated back to the early 1800's.
The City of Sesimbra was exactly what you expect from a European City. SO fun. The locals said the water was really cold, so did not dip my toes.
Talked with a local that was staying at her 2nd home here, and she said in a month, there won't be anyone in the City and will be boring.
Still a bit weird not knowing what the road signs say. I have Google translate on my phone, but a bit scary trying to put that into my phone and drive 120.... Ok, maybe not MPH, but still pretty fast.
Had a really nice dinner tonight at my hotel - pesto pasto with shrimp and two glasses of wine - 21 euros. What a deal! It was a Portugese wine, and had a 3.9 Vivino rating - very good!
Tomorrow leaving Lisboa (that is what all the signs say) and heading north to Porto. Adios!
