The First Day of Autumn...

... falls on Saturday, September 23rd at 2:50 a.m. EDT in the Northern Hemisphere.  On this day we will have equal amounts of daylight and darkness. Then we begin to have less daylight each day and more darkness until the Winter Solstice in December when we begin gaining more daylight each day.

Fall is harvest time and enjoying the bounty and all the State Fairs

Even in the winter months, Doug Dawes it rarely gets below freezing in the East Valley.  In nearby higher elevations it will get much colder.

Fall in the high desert lacks the foliage of the Midwest and New England. Yet the temps are still mild and many of the trees remain green through fall as well as the through winter. I do miss the changing colors of the leaves, but do not miss an early autumn snow fall.
