Up North we don't need a calendar or follow the different equinox's to know when it is Fall.

The picture above was taken earlier this week and about half of those leaves up there are now down upon my yard.

There are other sure signs of Fall in our yard, like this Doe and Fawn raiding local gardens. Keep in mind I live a half mile from downtown in a City of 50,000 and not somewhere rural.

I was more than surprised to see the ribs on the Doe as we have had a very good growing season so their should be no shortage of food for the wild life BUT there are a lot of deer in town. THIS is why we have deer hunting season... if the herd is not thinned out many would die of starvation.

Another sign of fall is how busy the wasps are.

This hive is/was at the peak of our home. I sprayed it before they decided it was getting to cold out and they needed to move into our home.

Time for me to quit blogging and start raking.

North Dakota is a beautiful State John Pusa and Minot is in a great place with the Mouse River running through it. Many of the people that move here because of all it has to offer sportsmen of all kinds. It is beautiful during the winter as well but that winter hangs on just a bit to long.

It is pretty Kathleen Daniels, Probate & Trust Specialist but it could use a little more red. Now we have about 3 weeks of clean-up to do.

Good morning, Bob... amazingly enough we see deer here in Charlotte, as well. And we've got a million people! Not everywhere, obviously, but more often than you'd think. Not seeing much color here yet and fortunately whatever leaves do fall are disposed off weekly by my community's lawn service.

I always loved raking leaves as a kid growing up in upstate NY. The smell, the cool air was always a signal to me Halloween was right around the corner.

Ahhh, one of the things we gave up when we moved here was raking! Most of the leaves that fall here are from the small Rocky Mountain Maples and they're not over the road or anything. The needles from the larches should be changing in a month or so - and those don't need raking either. Phew! I still have to shovel snow, but not rake. :-)

Raking leaves is a family affair in our household Endre Barath, Jr. so he will be by my side once the rain stops and they dry out a little.

As an uncertified pyromaniac I LOVE fireplaces Dennis Neal . In fact I plan on burning as many of those leaves that I rake as I can.

It's a family affair for us Dorie Dillard Austin TX which actually makes it very enjoyable for each of us. Even when it was me alone it was worth it to see the kids jump into the pile when they were little.

That picture of the intricate design of that bee hive reminds me of how brilliant I think bees can be.  That doesn't mean I'd want it in or near my home however.

We live in a very suburban area and we have lots of deer - I just hope they are fatter than your doe.  Captain chased one through the neighborhood Sunday night.  he bolted and I let go of the leash because he is too strong - Fortunately he was wearing a lighted harness so I just followed the flashing lights to catch him.

Baby can be a handful as well Lise Howe but she has never gotten away from me. She hasn't had an opportunity to chase the deer as our backyard is fenced and they are on the other side. The challenge comes at the park with all the squirrels. I did let her lose once just to prove she could never catch one and even though the nearest tree was a ways away she didn't even get close (but it was fun to watch the old girl give it all she had).
