Minot's NEW City Hall

I am going to walk you through the new City Hall with pictures and a little commentary in 3 parts with each part a separate floor of the building.

This and the following 2 posts are part of an entry into a blogging challenge put forth by Dr. Paula McDonald and Kathy Streib titled Let's Get Serious About Writing a Blog Series

First let me be clear that the Minot City Council LOVES to spend money. Minot is the 4th largest City in the State but out spends the largest by a very substantial amount. The amenities are nice but our taxes are as insane as our City Aldermen/women.

First of all let me point out that it is right across from the funeral home... very fitting... death and taxes.

The location is that of the old Wells Fargo building downtown. Most important to the big spenders is of course to prominently display their names up front, after all this is a monument to them and their big spending.

Just inside the door to the left is where you can pay those taxes. The ladies working in the office are very nice people and always treat you well.

To your right is the City Assessors office where they have to over value your home to pay for the insane Councils insane taxes. The personnel here are also nice and friendly BUT they are over a barrel due to the Council's spending so don't expect any breaks here.

And then there is the Hall Of OZ, the City Council where you can bring your point of view. No matter how much sense it makes no action will be taken BUT it may be tabled or voted down. If it is tabled they may table it again and again until people lose interest and then they can vote it down without a scene.

That is pretty much it for the first floor of Minot's new City hall. The council takes up a lot of space due to their BIG egos/heads.

Hello Bob... all I can say is that I laughed all the way through at your commentary! My question is who keeps electing these people?

I think it must be the same people who are voting for Joe Nina Hollander, Broker . We did sweep out half of them last time so maybe this November we will vote out the other half.

They sure do like to spend our money Will Hamm . I think part of the problem is that people are not as informed as they used to be when most citizens got the local newspaper.

When the nation was in a recession North Dakota was in an oil boom and a lot of people made a killing and invested it in AZ Bill Salvatore - East Valley . It seemed like everyone I knew was picking up fully furnished homes for next to nothing.

It looks too much like a courthouse to me, haha.  I don't really enjoy visiting courthouses.

Our county council just raised our transfer and recordation taxes even more than they were already - and they were ridicuously high already

A big thank you to you Kathleen Daniels, Probate & Trust Specialist and Mr. Crappy for the recognition. 😊 When it comes to overspending I know this group didn't write the book but they sure follow it closely.

Brian England the BIG difference is that at the court house Justice is usually served. BTW I do enjoy going to the courthouse and watching a trial on occasion.
