Should she become a Realtor?

Real Estate Agent with The Mode Real Estate Group DRE # 00935148

Unfortunately I don't have a video to post today for this challenge so instead I will tell you about a time I gave advice to a client of mine, who became a very successful real estate agent.  She was a teacher at the time and had been in the teaching profession for many years.  She had seemed to come to a time in her life that she was not enjoying teaching any longer and she wanted my advice about going into real estate.

We had lunch and talked about real estate.  The good, the bad and more specifically why she thought real estate was her calling.  She had small children at the time and really wanted time during her days to spend with them.  How often do we hear that people get into real estate for the flexible schedule?  I talked to her about how this is pretty much a myth as we are in a customer service industry, but if you learn to set boundaries from the start you will be better off.  We also discussed income expectations, working hour expectations, mentorships, teams, and more so that I felt she had a good understanding of what it was going to take on her part.

I was sure that she was a great candidate to become a great Realtor and one who would not only survive long term but thrive.  This was about 8 years ago and she is one of the top agents in our office now.   I am so happy that I took the time to help her with this transition.  I believe she is much happier as a Realtor than she was as a teacher.

This post is for day 21 of The 30-Day Real Estate Social Media Challenge:

“Post a video of yourself giving some advice or encouragement to other real estate agent(s), aspiring agent(s), or other real estate-related professional(s).”
