This month Dr. Paula McDonald and Kathy Streib are hosting the September ActiveRain Challenge titled "Let's Get Serious About Writing a Blog Series." Through my 17 plus years of writing blogs on ActiveRain I have written many series of blogs. My most notable series of blogs is one I write yearly on the progression of the Fall Colors here in Connecticut. However, this months challenge only requires a series of 3 blogs, so I have decided to write about my three most favorite mortgage experiences as a Loan Originator.
My Second favorite mortgage experience I have chosen is a loan I did for a young couple who went to school with my oldest son Matthew from kindergarten through High School. Just like the first blog in this challenge "My First Memorable Mortgage Experience", it will be very obvious once you have read this blog why this was a very special transaction.
This loan for a young couple that I watch grow up since they were both in kindergarten. Both of them went to elementary school, junior high, and high school with my oldest son. My son also played little league baseball and sang in the High School Concert Chores with the husband. These were two of the nicest and smartest kids that you would ever want to know. So when I got the call from them telling me that they were married and buying a house, and wanted me to do the mortgage, I was extremely pleased.
The whole loan process with this young couple went extremely well and quickly. They had all the documents I needed, the credit was great, plenty of income, and money in the bank. The house even appraised over the selling price. The Attorney that did the Closing was also someone they new, in fact her youngest daughter had grown up with them and my son. I could not have asked for the Closing to go any better or smoother. This was one of my most gratifying experiences that I have had as a Loan Office.
