The FEAR of Friday the 13th?

Will you do anything different today --- being Friday the 13th?

 

It is also a reason for the fear of Friday the 13th, called paraskevidekatriaphobia (from Greek Παρασκευή (Paraskevi), meaning 'Friday') or friggatriskaidekaphobia (after Frigg, the Norse goddess after whom Friday is named in English).

 

I had not noticed we had a Friday the 13th this month, and had a quick chuckle.   Will anyone do anything different because of this day?    Not being too superstitious, but am glad I don't have a closing today!

Funny thing Joan Cox my husband called attention to me that it was Friday the 13th. I don't believe in it. What I do know I avoid at all costs scheduling any closings on Friday because sometimes the recording doesn't happen until Monday.  Your graphics brought a chuckle to me.

Leanne, it was a great photo!  I understand about the Friday closings, but we don't worry about that here, all can be done on Friday.

Fascinating post, Joan! While I don’t typically succumb to the superstitions of Friday the 13th, it’s impossible to ignore the impact such beliefs have had historically and culturally. It makes me wonder how many potential real estate deals have been delayed or even derailed because of this day! In any case, it's an interesting aspect of human behavior that's worth acknowledging, even if just for a good-natured chuckle or two.

Hi Joan Cox - I get more concerned over a "Mercury Retrograde" than Friday the 13th. 

Actually, I think of "13" as a lucky number.  Our first home was something out of an Alfred Hitchcock movie.  The address was 1313 Brooktree Cr.
