Zlogging Bewitchery: Tricks and Treats of Being an ActiveRain Member!
Trick or Treat? First of all, what a treat this month’s challenge has been and a HUGE THANK YOU to Leanne Smith & Endre Barath, Jr. for being the most amazing hosts. I’ve totally enjoyed reading the posts this month!
Despite a few deceptive 'tricks' from individuals who unfortunately breached the community's trust, Kathleen Daniels, Probate & Trust Specialist eluded to in her post this month, I'm happy to report that the overwhelming majority of my interactions here have been nothing short of delightful treats!
Sixteen years ago, I would have never guessed how transformative an online platform could be for my life! Truly, I was clueless! I recall starting on ActiveRain with a level of caution that was off the charts—I didn't muster up the courage to post my first comment until 6 months had passed! Contrary to popular belief, I'm not as much of an extrovert as people think. My 'inner introvert' really held the reins when I first dipped my toes into the Rain. It was the gentle nudging and incredible support from Brad Andersohn, Rich Jacobson, Bob Stewart, Kerrie La Guardia and others that helped me find my groove!
I always enjoy reflecting about my tenure here--there's no trickery these days - just delectable treats! Indeed, the landscape has shifted - people have evolved. Social media, personal websites and booming businesses have steered many away from their starting point here. Numerous folks, myself included, have taken breaks, while others have remained on the platform daily. I maintain connections with many members who've branched out from here and it's impossible to tally the number of referrals I've exchanged with ActiveRain members, both current and past.
Today's ActiveRain highlight holds a special place in my heart! Back in March of 2020, Marie Story sparked the idea of a virtual 'coffee' over ZOOM, and our weekly gatherings flourished from there. Believe it or not, we're approaching the four-year mark of our ActiveRain ZOOM calls!
The gatherings began as a way to support each other during the pandemic's lockdown, providing much-needed social interaction as we followed our state's guidelines. These sessions have been filled with laughter, amazing fellowship and consistent learning—every single Tuesday for an hour and we always come away with new insights, WITHOUT FAIL!
The real treat in this experience has been the chance to meet fantastic members as closely as a video call allows! We've enjoyed a widely diverse array of topics, thanks to our speakers and we couldn’t have done it without the coordination efforts of several integral members. Kat Palmiotti, Kathy Streib, Margaret Rome Baltimore 410-530-2400, Carol Williams and Eileen Burns 954.483.3912 have each been pivotal in bringing these incredible speakers to our virtual stage. THANK YOU ALL!
As well, each week, George Souto announces the details for the upcoming Tuesday's 2PM EST ZOOM call, featuring a graphic, created by Craig Daniels. Kathleen Daniels ensures this announcement reaches everyone by posting it in the Q&A section, catering to those who may have missed George's original post. Many members who join in on the call visit either George or Kathleen's posts to access the link for Tuesday's call.
Thank you seems hardly enough to say as this group has meant so much to many of our active members. We are thankful for you ALL!
