While the trees cling to their last bits of vibrancy, the brisk air and morning frost make for invigorating outdoors experiences. Although we might not have the snow yet for our mountain sports, there is no reason to stay inside. Don’t let the cold air keep you indoors; there is tons to see and experience on a late fall hike or bike ride through one of the Pocono region's many parks!
There are endless trails for beginner hikers and the more experienced alike, as well as countless places to take your mountain bike for a ride. If you’re looking for an educational or more structured experience in nature, consider a guided hike. Parks in the western Pocono region, like Nescopeck and Hickory Run State Parks, periodically offer candlelit walks along the lake, full moon walks, bird-watching walks, and more. Be prepared to see a variety of wildlife, including deer, turkeys, foxes, and even the occasional black bear or bald eagle. You can also forage on your walks, as autumn is a great time to look for wild mushrooms! There is much to see and snap even during this seemingly “off” season in the Poconos.
