Leanne Smith , that's great that you replaced those units.  Make sure to have an energy audit performed and reduce as much as you can so you have fewer solar panels, increasing your ROI nd reducing your costs.  My next door neighbor has an entire roof filled with solar panels, while I only have 14.  Reason being, I had all of the other work performed with a quick payback so I could add fewer solar panels.  Eg, duct sealing is a 3 year payback and I saw an immediate reduction in my energy bills ($50 the first month in August); spray foam insulation in my attic was a 5 year payback. Sun screens were an immediate 5% reductiion and it kept my office more comfortable during summer months.  An energy audit is software results that show real data, not a GC's guestimate.   Good luck!

Thank you Ginger Harper !  And this works anywhere in the US.  Solar panels produce less power, are less efficient, when the temperatures rise over 105 degrees.  So this past summer, I lost some power!  In more moderate temperatures, even if it's cloudy occasionally, solar is still a good idea :)
