I'm feeling rushed!
I went shopping for pin wheels to add some pizazz to my open house signs. It's July, summer is in full swing - what better time to find season-related items for sale, right?
Wheeling my basket through the bowels of the craft store, the first thing I see are the traditional colors of Fall - complete with pumpkins and draping garlands of leaves the colors they turn before falling off the trees. I felt underdressed in my flip flops and shorts and confused by the outside temperature, a balmy 95 degrees in the shade.
Around the corner - TA DA!! Christmas decorations! Boxes lined up assembly style in the middle of the aisles, stockers stuffing the bins with Christmas bulbs, baubles and ribbons, fake greens with a dusting of "snow."
Where oh where is Santa in a speedo when you need him?
Following the intermittent, strange, moaning sounds woven into the overhead elevator music. I cautiously wheeled my squeeky cart down a darkened aisle - Holy Cow! Halloween costumes!
Why don't we just combine the cool weather holidays into one mega holiday: Dress up as a turkey or Santa Clause for Halloween, throw in the Easter Bunny for good measure. Have a Merry Thanksgiving!
Sheesh, what's the rush?
Summer is the peak selling season in my market! We need all the time we can get!

Kathleen - Christmas tree shops? Holy cow, that's reallly pushing it. Storing decorations is one thing, but a tree? Wonder what that thing will look like come Christmas?
