The world seems to grow colder every day (despite "Global Warming") so I am very thankful for the warming affection I receive every day. What could be better than feeling loved and to be given a hug?
At one time the majority of people in the United States believed in a faith that taught that the greatest commandment was to love God and to love each other. That is no longer a majority belief so it's no wonder that there are so many people today that live in a darkness called loneliness. Many people today have adapted a faith that teaches that to gain their gods love you must annihilate those who do not bend the knee to said god. Many more have just given up on any faith at all.
I think the best we can do without God is to have friends to love and to hold. Of course if you are really lucky today you will find someone you don't want to live without and who hopefully doesn't want to live without you either.
That being said, in today's "me first" atmosphere, less than fifty percent of the marriages today last to death do us part (unless one spouse murders the other).
And then there are pet friends like Joe, Titus and Philemon or me and Baby. You would think that would be a pretty good fit, after all you went out and bought that friend... but then why are the animal shelters full to capacity and many pets being destroyed?
What's the Problem? Why aren't we Loved?
Usually the answer stands before us in the mirror. Not that we are not lovable but that we don't think we are lovable. One faith teaches that we are the image of the one who created us and that we are beautiful to said Creator. What a cool thought that is!
In conclusion I am so thankful that I believe in a divine Creator and that He created me in His imagine and that He loves me. I am thankful that He has commanded me to love others and not to destroy them. I am thankful that I am surrounded by like minded people all who love me in some capacity or another.
This is my 3rd submission into the November challenge put forth by Debe Maxwell, CRS .
