When it comes to selling your home in the beautiful Big Bear Lake area, it's all about creating an irresistible and memorable experience for potential buyers. Beyond the traditional visual appeal of a well-staged property, we can't overlook the power of scents in shaping a buyer's perception.

Dennis Neal with RE/MAX, Big Bear suggests a delightful and effective strategy to engage buyers: baking enticing treats before an open house. In a recent blog post, we highlighted the aromatic allure of five irresistible baked goods that can help create a warm and inviting atmosphere during your open house.

  • Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies:
  • The universally comforting scent of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, with the combination of vanilla, butter, and rich chocolate, is sure to create a homely and inviting atmosphere. Arrange a batch on a decorative plate in the kitchen or near the entrance to welcome guests with the timeless charm of these delightful cookies.
  • Cinnamon Rolls:
  • The sweet and spicy aroma of cinnamon rolls is not only delicious but also incredibly inviting. The scent of cinnamon wafting through the air creates a cozy and comforting ambiance, making potential buyers feel right at home. Display a plate of freshly baked cinnamon rolls in the kitchen or dining area to evoke a sense of warmth and hospitality.
  • Lemon Blueberry Muffins:
  • For a fresh and vibrant scent, consider baking lemon blueberry muffins. The combination of citrusy lemon and sweet blueberries creates a refreshing aroma that can brighten up any space. Place a basket of these muffins in a prominent location, such as the kitchen or breakfast nook, to add a touch of freshness and positivity to your open house.
  • Vanilla Pound Cake:
  • The sweet and buttery aroma of vanilla pound cake is a timeless classic. Baking a moist and fragrant pound cake can fill your home with a rich, comforting scent that lingers in the air. Slice the cake into bite-sized pieces and arrange them on a stylish platter in the kitchen or living room, enticing potential buyers with a taste of home.
  • Freshly Brewed Coffee:
  • While not a baked good per se, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee is a powerful scent that can enhance the appeal of your home. Set up a coffee station with a high-quality coffee maker and some freshly ground beans. The inviting smell of coffee can create a cozy and inviting atmosphere, encouraging potential buyers to linger and envision themselves enjoying a cup in their new home.

Joanne emphasizes the importance of leveraging the allure of baked goods to boost home sales. The power of scent should not be underestimated when it comes to staging your home for an open house. By incorporating these irresistible aromas, you can create a warm and inviting atmosphere that resonates with potential buyers, making your property more memorable and appealing.

I do love the smell of fresh baked cookies or cinnamon rolls when I walk into an open house. The worst thing to smell is when those wonderful baked goods burn in the oven. I'm sure that never happens to you Dennis 😉
