I know a lot of people, like my sister, who have their Christmas shopping done by August. From what I've read here in the Active Rain Q & A section there are quite a few of you that already have their Christmas shopping done.

I agree with Joe, I want to avoid this:

Our household , all adults now, have learned it's easiest to purchase something for ourselves and then put "from your family" on it. We get what we want and no craziness. Of course we do buy some trinkets for stockings from Santa but there is nothing in them that would warrant fighting a crazy crowd.

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? His strip, Titus & Philemon, has run in two newspapers for years as well as being printed in my blog every day. Titus & Philemon (pronounced Phi - Lee -Man) are guinea pigs. Their owner is Joe. Timmothy has never repeated a joke/comic strip in the 12 years he has been writing it. He has never copied another strip, such as Peanuts or Garfield. Good morning, Bob. I've never done Black Friday. I used to shop for gifts throughout the year and put them aside for Christmas. Our grands are grown and all they want is a gift card... so shopping for me is easy.

I just did that Doug Dawes and I found a great deal on Walmart.com but it said it was not at my store and they do NOT ship the item. That takes care of that!

You would not find me out there on days like today, I seldom go shopping normally, and would not endure the black Friday craziness.

I only have one person to shop for, my wife, and there are plenty of things she likes on Amazon, much less stressful and a better variety.

I only remember a couple of times in the last 20 years Carol Williams , one was a "netbook" at Walmart and the other time was something at Menards. One has to have the right mind set to fit into a crowd of crazy shoppers.

I found that if I'm going to a Black Friday sale I need to make it a laser focused mission and not to do any actual shopping Bob Crane .

Good evening Bob,

I'm not one to fight the crowds on Black Friday! My sanity is way more important! I like to get a list of things my grands are wanting as I want to make sure I spend money on things they actually want....not just anything because it's a deal! Gift cards are way too impersonal. They like to open gifts with all of us present and I love to wrap pretty packages!

That is true Endre Barath, Jr. and one of the reasons I didn't get up at 3 or 4AM. That and cyber shopping.

I think the last time I did Brian England was because it was a great deal on a drone. That was years ago and they were very hard to fly back then so I ended up getting very little use out of it.

I have yet to join Amazon, Costco, or Sam's Club Myrl Jeffcoat but I do shop on line through Walmart and other big box stores. I look at Black Friday much like a scary roller coaster... it's great if your up for it.
