Grateful to Give

Being in real estate for the last 18 years has afforded me many blessings. I have been able to provide for my family & save for retirement. I sell homes and I own & broker a property management company. The property manangement can be gruesome sometimes but it allows for a steady income when I haven't sold a home.  But mostly, it has allowed me to give!

Every year my husband I give to someone or something above and over our usual tithing. The last 5 or so years we have deciced to help single moms.  The Lord always puts on mine or my husbands heart who that single mom should be. Sometimes it is a single mom in our family or someone that we heard of that needs help through our church. The last one was a lady at our financial planners office. She mentioned to us while we were in the waiting area that Christmas would be hard for her this year due to finances. I immediatley knew she was our single mom.

I certainly do not post this to brag but to offer up to you that giving offers us a way of embracing all that makes our lives what they are. It is more than just a happy feeling but it allows us to perceive more of the goodness that we ourselves are receiving!

 2 Corinthians 9:6-8

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, God loves a cheerful giver.
