GRATITUDE: (4) I'm grateful for our home!
Home can mean many things. For some it is a town; a place where they grew up. It can mean a feeling; like being with your family. It almost always means a safe place; a place where you can be yourself.
We have lived in our home on Guijarro (gwiharro) Drive for over 20 years. In the first few years it was a second home that we visited on weekends from our home in Sierra Madre, CA. When we moved to La Quinta full time... that is when we settled in. It became HOME.
Our home was built in the 1970's so we have remodeled several times over the years, first in 2006 replacing the flooring, doors, and kitchen; later bedrooms and bathrooms. Our last big remodel included knocking down walls, opening up our kitchen, adding a large island, and new appliances.
I love to cook... and the kitchen is just perfect now. But probably the most wonderful feature of our home is the outdoor space. With our mild climate, we love to spend time outdoors and bring the sunshine in! Our home features an interior courtyard that I decorate with the seasons, and it reflects the hacienda style of the home and my NM roots! Lots of talavera!
The views of the La Quinta Country Club and the Santa Rosa mountains to the west; along with a sparkling pool and bougainvillea draw you to the backyard.
All of these things are wonderful- but mostly I love the way our home makes me feel. it is safe, and spacious enough to invite friends and family to visit. Not too large to take care of and located close to shopping, restaurants, golf, the La Quinta village. And NO it is not for sale!!
The mornings I spend at my table working, blogging, drawing, are my favorite time of day. I hope your home brings you as much joy as ours does! I am truly grateful!
