Giving Tuesday - Keeping It Local
It's Giving Tuesday, the Tuesday that follows Thanksgiving where we give to charities to help make the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves better. When it comes to giving we often think about the larger charities but small charities often get forgotten and the need is more locally based. What are some of your favorite local charities?
I like to support local charities and more specifically, charities that have to do with people being able to stay in their homes longer or that make the lives of others better.
One of my favorite local charities that I support is Rebuilding Together Baltimore - Rebuilding Together Baltimore supports residents in the Baltimore area who are elderly, disabled, and in need of essential repairs to their homes and who may need help with necessities for living. You can donate right on their website and donations made here stay in our local community.
Another charity I support is Live Baltimore - Live Baltimore promotes Baltimore City Living and also helps low to moderate-income families become homeowners. Live Baltimore has several events throughout the year to earn downpayment assistance and several educational opportunities to learn about the home-buying process.
Petey and Furends - For those of you who don't know, we adopted Sadie a, then, 6-year-old beagle mix last year through Petey and Furends. She is an amazing dog, and Petey and Furends rescued her from a shelter in North Carolina and cleaned her up got her the medical attention she needed, fostered her until we adopted her. And, that is why this charity is on my list.
