He Just Came Out of the Chimney, Dude!

I can't say that I have experienced blinding Christmas lights in our, or anyone else's home but I can imagine it.

Personally I LOVE light and tend to go overboard with lighting, especially outdoor security lighting. In fact,  back when the newspaper delivered to the door my delivery person refused to do so because my security lights blinded him when he pulled into the driveway so I had to put a "tube" out on the boulevard. Oh well... on the brighter side I have never had anything stolen out of my yard or vehicle.

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? His strip, Titus & Philemon, has run in two newspapers for years as well as being printed in my blog every day. Titus & Philemon (pronounced Phi - Lee -Man) are guinea pigs. Their owner is Joe. Timmothy has never repeated a joke/comic strip in the 12 years he has been writing it. He has never copied another strip, such as Peanuts or Garfield. I remember as a child driving around the various neighborhoods "ooing and awwing" at all the lights. My father hung outside lights on our evergreens. Today we just have the Christmas tree and that is fine.

Hello Bob, My wife is not letting me put up the outside lights this year since falling off ot a ladder last year.  I miss them.

Because of the tradition of our parents we still drive around the neighborhoods Leanne Smith . Seems like a lot less Oh's and Aw's these days with so many "nothing to do with Christ" inflatables out there.

Lighting can indeed be a two edged sword Mark Don McInnes, Sandpoint-Idaho . Ill placed lighting can also be costly.

I am right there with you with the bright security lights Bob "RealMan" Timm 

I've felt blinded by some lights, however none from Christmas Trees or other holiday lifghts.

Good afternoon Bob,

Growing up we always decorated the outside of our home with a big Santa and a sleigh with reindeer and Rudolph leading the back with a red blinking nose! I still like to drive around and look at the Christmas lights in the yard.

Dorie Dillard Austin TX I do remember Rudolph's with blinking red noses. I also liked seeing Christmas trains (not physically moving) in yards.

That is great advice Endre Barath, Jr. , I don't know why I have hung on to a couple of ladders that are not safe. Even though I am the only one who uses them they should go into the garbage.
