Sandpoint Reatly 'Monday Motivation' while true in and of itself, needs be adjusted a bit, in my opinion.
This quote is true to both men and women and they need not be 'great'. The common person, often unnoticed, fights adversity as well, just not noticed by as many.
I remember a 'River Rafting Trip' from many decades back. Our guides promised us a special extra, to the trip, if we were interested in a bit of a hike and a little climbing. A small group of us went.
As we were making our way up the hill, ridges, on what was anything but a well traveled trail we noticed one gentleman having a more difficult time than seemed necessary.
When we made it to our starting point, of the extra adventure, we stood at the edge of an overhang about 40 feet above a large pool created by the hundreds of years of a stream and the granite rock being carved out. Our guides explained we would be jumping into 4 or 5 pools bringing us back to our waiting rafts.
By this time word had spread that the gentleman having the difficult time was deathly afraid of heights. All of us seemed to silently acknowledge his struggle, and the inner battle he must have been experiencing.
No one made an overly big issue of it but did either step in front of him or behind him to give just a little additional assurance he was not alone. I can not imagine the strength it took to jump from each ledge.
After many river rafting trips and wonderful memories this one sticks strongest with me decades later. The above quote brings it to mind.
It was by far and away one of the bravest moments I have ever witnessed.
