Trash fires can be started by:

- Batteries (incl lithium-ion)

- Flammable or combustible liquids

- Hazardous materials

- Canisters containing propellants

- Compressed gas cylinders

- Ashes

- Charcoal and used charcoal bags

This is a Montgomery County, Maryland announcement.

Cigarettes flung from a car window caused the last fire in our area.  The fire burned over 1000 acres and flamed for almost three weeks.  We have been on a no-burn for the summer, and this should have made that person with the cigarette know they could cause a fire, but they did not care.
