Friday Fun…Wrapped or Bags?

We all have one of these friends…their Christmas shopping is done by the summer and all their gifts have been wrapped.

Last week I was catching up with just such a friend. I wish I had all of my wrapping done. My problem is that I don’t like wrapping gifts.

My mother was an expert at it. I could have wrapped half a dozen gifts in the time it took her to make one bow!

I went through stages in my wrapping. I’d buy plain red or green paper and wrap them with one wide ribbon.

One year, I  used up my cotton balls to decorate packages for the children in the family.

And THIS is why I love gift bags. All you need is tissue paper!  And they can be recycled!!!!

What about you? Wrapping paper or Gift Bags???

Good morning Kathy. My preference is gift bags and tissue paper. No muss and no fuss! Enjoy your day.

Wayne Martin I will sometimes wrap a gift if it's already boxed!  The bow is the hardest part.

In our house its age appropriate. With the presents that are intended for Santa believers, it is always wrapped. All others get a bag or a money card.

Ed Silva, 203-206-0754 that's a good way to do it. Some of the toys we've given are almost impossible to wrap!

Good morning, Kathy... it's both for me! Depends on the gift. I love wrapping gifts, I love shopping for wrapping paper. My family says I should do it professionally.  I already have a deal with Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP that I'll wrap and she'll bake. Happy to have that deal with you.

Hello Kathy - over the years, I have tried many different ways of gift-wrapping presentations.  However, I will resist from saying, "it depends" as that seems even more disposable than the situation merits.

Michael Jacobs I actually enjoyed doing the cotton balls on the red paper!

Gift bags for everyone: I am not a wrapping expert, and bags look better than when I wrap them.

Gwen Fowler SC Lakes & Mountains 864-710-4518 I've been known to put confetti in some of the bags so it flies everywhere when the children open it.

Hi Kathy,

Great post!

When my kids were young, the gifts from Santa were never wrapped.  I worked in a department store and can do OK wrapping gifts.  I use bags or wrapping as the time allows.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® when I was a kid our gifts from Santa weren't wrapped either. Larry's mother wrapped everything...even what she put in the stocking.

I also prefer gift bags when appropriate. This year, most of our gifts were ordered online and no wrapping was needed.

Roy Kelley I'm with you!!! We order our out-of-town gifts online so no wrapping and shipping involved.

Exactly Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty My friend's mom who is 104 told her friends at her birthday party last year not to give her any birthday cards. At $6.00+ a card, she didn't want to waste the money or paper.

Hi Kathy:

We use both paper and bags, depending on the gift. Sometimes it's just so much easier to put a gift in a bag with tissue. I like that they can circulate around the family!
