I have always worked hard for what I have. Every few months, I go through my belongings in my closet. I look at my clothes. I have not worn them for a season. I put them in the bag. Remember, I live in an area where we have four seasons. It doesn't matter if it was expensive. Some may still have tags or have only been worn once. It goes in the bag to Green Drop, which donates it to worthy causes. I always have a large trash bag full of nice clothes.
There have been times that I have also taken to senior living centers where some people do not have family that visits. Sadly, they do not even have clothes to wear, and they depend on the charity of others. It makes me sad to see some older people sitting in wheelchairs outside their rooms slumped over. They are dressed in mismatched clothing. The help who works there tells me their family hardly ever comes to visit. Some never come to visit.
Some people put their clothing on Facebook or other sites and sell it. You can make money. Women who do this do not need the money but do it anyway. They use the money to go out to lunch or buy more clothes.
It makes me feel good that someone will get my clothes who needs them.
This is a simple act of kindness that Kathleen Daniels, Probate & Trust Specialist, asked me to write about
