Until 1975, women couldn't sign a mortgage without a male cosigner...

The Equal Credit Opportunity Act of 1974 stopped banks from being able to refuse women from getting credit cards.

It's amazing to think how far we have come.

Today a female mortgage broker can have $1B worth of business.

Nobody imagined that in the 1970's.

It makes you wonder––what can't we imagine today, that will be true in the next 50 years?

I know there were restrictions on credit for women in the 1970's... but I never had a co-signer as a single woman ever and rented my first apartment in NY City on my own in 1970.

It is a sad state when one considers that which should be so simple and logical needs the government to step in and make law.
